Emergency Unit - Interdisciplinarity
Triemli Municipal Hospital is one of three large emergency centres in the Zürich region treating over 39’500 emergency cases per year. Experienced emergency teams are on duty around the clock. Highly advanced facilities and utilities are available in the new treatment wing: intensive care, X-ray, CTI, MRI, laboratory diagnostics, trauma room, plaster cast section. Further specialised facilities are in close proximity.
Accidents, Casualty Surgery
Approximately 60 percent of casualties require surgery. Specialised fields of surgical treatment are available at a high professional level.
Heart Emergencies
Specialised heart treatment facilities are available around the clock. Cardiac emergency cases must be treated as soon as possible in the hospital.
Please call the emergency ambulance service by dialling 144. When a heart attack occurs the coronary vessels become obstructed. This obstruction must be cleared as soon as possible by widening with a balloon catheter and the placement of a stent.
Stroke Unit
Time is the most important factor after a patient has had a stroke or apoplectic seizure. Call the emergency ambulance service immediately by dialling 144. In the case of ominous symptoms - partial paralysis, speech defects, impaired vision – a diagnostic examination should take place without any hesitation. The patient must be transferred to hospital as soon as possible.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology Emergencies
The gynaecological clinic operates an obstetrics and gynaecology emergency unit. Female patients can report directly to the reception office in the
- clinic for gynaecology (separate building open around the clock).
Details in English
Paediatric Emergency Unit
The emergency team of the paediatric emergency unit is on duty around the clock. In case of general medical or feverish childrens’ diseases, we recommend using the waiting facilities in the paediatric clinic on floor T (Kindernotfall), which are more suitable for children. Registration is also possible here.
- Child surgery: In case of obvious general emergencies requiring surgery (open wounds, fractures or dislocations) please contact the emergency unit reception on the ground floor. Surgical facilities are available in immediate proximity.
Emergency Teams
Surgical and internal medicine teams are permanently on duty and co-operate between disciplines. All medical specialised disciplines have a commitment to provide optimal emergency care. As emergency treatment plays an important role in our hospital, the emergency section is managed as a separate hospital department.
