Zone upgrade

Zone upgrade for a valid ticket

Are you planning to travel outside the area for which your ticket or travelcard is valid? If so, you can purchase the missing zones at automatic ticket machines. You can also buy zone upgrades in advance at the ticket counter (don’t forget to validate!).

If your ZVV ticket plus your zone upgrade cover 8 zones, you can roam freely within the entire ZVV network.

A 9 o’clock pass for the city/agglomeration of Zurich or a 9 O'Clock pass for the city/agglomeration of Winterthur plus a zone upgrade for 4 zones entitles you to travel across the whole ZVV network.

Fare zones 10 (Zurich municipal zone) and 20 (Winterthur) count double in calculating the fare.
