Travel information on the move
Static information system
Our information system has been used successfully in Zurich for more than 30 years. This system gives you comprehensive and systematic information at the stop. It is therefore simple to find your way and to recognise individual routes.
Dynamic departure board
On the dynamic departure board you can see the relevant routes and destination details as well as their departure times in minutes. Information and disruption messages may also be displayed on these departure boards. This is shown as scrolling text in the last few lines of the display. On our dynamic departure boards the next low-floor trams are marked with a special sign. The most important stops are also equipped with an acoustic module. The control centre can thereby make announcements at individual stops and keep passengers up-to-date as appropriate.
Vehicle exterior displays
The route number is displayed in colour on the front of trams along with the terminus. On bus routes the route number is not shown in colour, but via an illuminated display along with the terminus.
Multifunctional display
Our vehicles are equipped with interior screens. We call these multifunctional screens. Below you will find the most important screen displays with short explanations.
In the standard display, on the top left on a grey background, is the route number. The route number shows you on which route you are travelling. In the blue box next to it, the next stop is displayed. The linear stop display (-o-o-o) in the central area indicates the next three stops and the number of minutes it will take to reach them. The terminus is shown in the lower area on a light blue background. As soon as a passenger has requested a stop, the word “stop” appears on a red background in the upper right-hand corner. The first stop request triggers an audio signal. If an announcement is made, a flashing loudspeaker signal appears in the bottom right-hand corner in place of the clock.
The route summary shows the current stop and the 10 following stops, and at the end of the linear stop display is the terminus. This display is shown after arrival at the stop and gives a summary of the progress of the route to passengers who are getting on.
At certain, predefined stops a special screen gives all relevant additional information about transfer connections. In the top field you can see the route number and the next stop, as on the standard screen, along with the available connections. Below this are the relevant departure times for the subsequent connections, with route number, direction of travel and whether a stop ramp is available. Appearing next to this is information on delays and whether the connection is on time or tight.
Route network plan / city map
In all buses and Cobras there is always a route network plan. These can be found in the articulations of the trams, in buses they are in the area set aside for wheelchairs/prams. On the Cobra you will also find a city map to help guide you.
