There are many different kinds of childcare services offered in the city of Zürich. Below, you will find an overview of the different child care services and their opening hours, however, there may be some deviation.

«Mittaghort» is the term used for childcare during lunchtime. «Mittaghort» usually lasts from 11.55 a.m.to 2.00 p.m., and «Mittag-/Abendhort» which are the terms for childcare during lunchtime and after school, lasts from 11.55 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.. Lunch or a snack is included in the childcare services.

«Morgentisch» is the term used for morning childcare. «Morgentisch» is a childcare service offered to parents who begin work early in the morning and includes breakfast. «Mittagtisch» is also a term used for childcare during lunchtime, however, this program does not include lunch.

In the «Tagesschule» (day school), the «Hort» (nursery) is mandatory on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Wednesdays, parents may choose if they want their children to attend the full day program or just the morning program. Whether or not lunch should be included is also optional.
