An administrative fine may be paid in cash at any police station or directly at the counter of the central office for traffic and administrative fines (Zentralstelle für Verkehrs- und Ordnungsbussen, ZVO). Further payment options are detailed below.

Provided payment of the administrative fine is made within 30 days, the case shall be closed without the offending person being registered. Payments after the stipulated time period can no longer be accepted. Payments made too late shall be reimbursed and the record transmitted to the municipal court authority of the city of Zurich, where ordinary proceedings will be instigated with liability for costs.

It is absolutely essential that the proceedings reference number (V-Nr.) be stated on any payments made by postal transfer, banking transfer, or on blank postal payment slips. In case of omission we shall not be able to allocate your payment, resulting in the transmission of your records to the municipal court authority of the city of Zurich for adjudication.
