Free Walk: New in Zurich Tour

An informative and entertaining tour with all you need to know plus insider information about Zurich. Get acquainted with Zurich's culture and life, learn what is important when living in Zurich. Meet and chat with other newcomers, learn about taxes, the political system, recycling, cultural specificities, services offered by the city of Zurich and try some basic words in Swiss German.

Free Walk Switzerland is a not-for-profit association that is offering guided tours on a tip-basis. This tour is supported by the City of Zurich and therefore no tip is expected.

  • What are preconditions for different housing options, as for example cooperatives, etc.?
  • What do I need to know about tenancy law?

The tour covers various locations: KulturLegi Canton Zurich, Caritas food market and second-hand shop netto.

The tour is in German, but there are people who can translate into Albanian, Arabian, English, French, Italian, Kurdish, Romany, Spanish and Turkish.

Are you looking for a job? Do you feel insecure about using a computer and writing an application in German? Do you need assistance creating your job application?

The tour takes us to various stops:

  • SAH Zürich impuls – Die Fachstelle rund um die Arbeit
  • Schreibdienst Stadt Zürich
  • LernLokal Caritas Zürich

You will gain insight into interesting advice and support offers. In addition, you will learn where to get useful help on your individual questions around the topics job search, application and employment law.

The tour takes place in German. There will be people on site who can translate into Albanian, Arabic, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Tigrinya.

Course for Women - Daily Life in Zurich

This integration course provides women with an introduction to the cultural and historical aspects, as well as the political system of the city. Practical issues such as community life, insurances, job market, health and school system will also be addressed in order to enable participants to cope with daily life in Zurich more easily. In addition, it is a good opportunity to make new contacts. Child care will be provided.
