Visit the Succulent Plant Collection virtually from the comfort of your sofa. Roam through our seven greenhouses without time pressure and other visitors, marvel at the variety in our showcases and zoom in on thorny cacti - guaranteed without - close to you.
Each greenhouse offers information in several languages (German, English, French and Italian) in the form of a large book . Here you will learn about the habitat of the Greater Region presented, the plant families represented there as well as ecological and other exciting aspects of the plants shown in the show area. Plant species that are particularly in demand are marked with a board and in-depth information. In addition, information on pests and diseases can be found on boards in the wooden succulent house.

On a tour through some of the several greenhouses with the fictitious gardener's daughter Sara Dorn, children between the ages of 9 and 13 explore the world of succulents on their own. Exciting tasks and tricky puzzles impart knowledge in a playful way.

The tour leads through several greenhouses where a wide variety of succulent plants grow: from tiny, spiky spheres to majestic columns that rise high into the sky. In the case of particularly interesting specimens, exciting games await the little explorers, where they learn where they occur, how they store water or how an agave is turned into a string.

Discover new botanical territory with four courageous researchers from all over the world. Through the centuries, explorers embarked on adventurous journeys to unknown regions. The four listening stations follow in the footsteps of the naturalists Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo y Valdés, Rudolph Philippi, Kurt Moritz Dinter and Edward Palmer, for whom no path was too bumpy and no path too dangerous to reach new plant treasures.

Under the title "Collecting – Knowledge – Commitment. Succulent Diversity on Lake Zurich", the current focus of the permanent collection in German and English shows the development of succulent science and provides insight into the current working practice of a scientifically managed special collection. Two showcases, an audio tour via your own mobile phone (in German only) and specific display boards guide you through our focus exhibition.
