Our herbarium was created in the 1950s and the oldest specimens date back to this time. The collection contains around 3000 type specimens from various succulent plant families.
We make a continuous effort to make our receipts available digitally. These can be viewed on the website of the Zurich Herbaria .
We will make the collection data available to interested persons and colleagues at our own discretion. Please understand that we only release the collection data for endangered plants or plants coveted by collectors in a restrictive manner.
Since its foundation in 1952, the Herbarium ZSS has continued to develop. Wherever possible, herbarium specimens are linked to the library via our accession number system and the living collection via our BRAHMS database. Important collections of the ZSS are, for example, the specimens of Friedrich Ritter, Peter Bally, John Lavranos and Beat Leuenberger.
Our herbarium is open to visitors with an academic interest upon registration .
Due to limited capacity, it is not possible to borrow or send receipts. However, our specimens will be digitized and made available on the website of the Zurich Herbaria. Receipts can be searched for via a search mask.
