The expertise was developed on behalf of the Department of Building Construction of the City of Zurich and the Urban Development of Zurich. It sheds light on the development of production, new trends and forms of operation and the licensing practice in various Swiss cities. In addition, around two dozen companies in the city of Zurich were examined. The study concludes that modern production companies need more space for non-directly production-related operational functions and contains recommendations for the attention of the licensing authority. On this basis, at the end of March 2018, the construction section of the city council adapted the practical guidelines for the approval of production plants.
