With the Röntgenareal development, 5,317 new apartments with a high proportion of 4.5- and 5.5-room apartments and relatively low rents were built in the district in 2000. The settlement is located in a district that has changed considerably in the meantime.  Urban Development Zurich has therefore accompanied the development of this settlement, which is located in a socio-spatially interesting field of tension, over the last ten years and has commissioned a sociological long-term study. 

After the first two studies of 2002 and 2005 , the report on the third study of the Röntgenareal settlement is also available (2010). With a focus on changes, the tenant structure and today's demand for apartments are presented and the housing satisfaction of the residents, as well as the assessment of settlement life and the relationship to the quarter are described.
