The study examines new housing estates and other new buildings that were completed in the period 2009 – 2012.
Between 2009 and 2012, around 6500 new apartments were built in the city of Zurich, three quarters of them in housing estates with more than 25 apartments. A disproportionate number of family apartments have been built, which also have a high occupancy density. The non-profit housing development agencies play an important role in the offer of inexpensive apartments with moderate space requirements.
