Council for Spatial Planning

The Spatial Planning Council ROR, which has been in existence since 1997, is a permanent extra-parliamentary commission. It advises the Federal Council and the federal agencies responsible for regional policy and spatial development on fundamental issues of spatial development. The spatial concept of Switzerland is a central basis for this. The ROR assesses spatial trends, coordinates between administration and science, examines options for action and designs spatial planning strategies. He is currently working on the importance of the peripheries for the years 2020 to 2023.

The Director of Urban Development is a member of the Commission. Every four years, the ROR submits a report to the Federal Council on "Megatrends and Spatial Development switzerland".
