From  autumn 2022, the City of Zurich will be testing the acceptance and use of a new parcel box in the "SalüBox" pilot project, which is open to all suppliers and all interested users. The pilot project is intended to contribute to strengthening the neighbourhood centres and local supply and thus to the "city of short distances". In addition, smart public transport stops are being tested.

The pilot project of the parcel boxes supports the supply of the population and the industry on the last mile. With the boxes, packages can be picked up or returned at any time without the risk of being stolen or damaged. The boxes are intended as a supplement and alternative to today's milk box. The local trade and retail trade also benefit, as ordered goods can be deposited for customers. This is intended to strengthen ground floor uses in settlement and district centres.

The pilot project envisages a total of four public parcel boxes; two each at urban housing estates and at tram stops. In autumn 2022, the boxes are to be set up and operated for one and a half to two years. The pilot project of the City of Zurich is supported by the departments of urban development, real estate, civil engineering office and transport companies as well as supported by the municipal innovation loan.
